Hey Sustainable Table,

Rather than hit you with a whole heap of hyperlinks, I’ve compiled a portfolio of comms-relevant content below — all with a foodie and/or ethical spin. There are more copywriting examples under the SAMPLES tab, and you’re very welcome to get in touch with any questions.

Thanks for being here!

PRINT + INTERVIEW

I was stoked to interview some of my favourite young farmers, Mike & Lauren Layfield, for this Sowing Seeds piece. Click right for more pages.

DOCUMENTARY

Brunch Backwards is short tribute to the people who feed us, filmed and produced with my partner George Clipp. While WWOOFing in North East Victoria, we fell in love with Saint Monday cafe and their hyperlocal network of suppliers. So we hassled them to star in this plate-to-paddock doco that’s all about sharing the story behind Saturday brunch.

E-NEWS + DESIGN

As an ex-witch, collaborating with herbally-inclined clients is a real treat. I work with Austral herbs to write, design and schedule their monthly mail-out, letting their 20k-strong list know what’s new, back in stock and interesting. (The only people who aren’t all that pleased are the tech team, who have to deal with traffic-related web crashes every other month.) I use Mailchimp for campaign management and Canva for design.

And this was a sweet bit of feedback!

AUDIO + INTERVIEW + DESIGN

Podcasts are my Netflix, and having the chance to start one from scratch was 2020 highlight. Together with mover/shaker/orator Jade Miles of Black Barn Farm, Futuresteading was born — a weekly podcast featuring interviews with all kinds of folks, united in tending a better future. This project has allowed me to hone skills in recording, audio production, presenting, graphic design, donation requests and cold emailing frightfully impressive people. We’re elated and relatively baffled by its success, now approaching 50k downloads.

SOCIAL MEDIA

During COVID-19, in-person volunteering was off the menu. So I started managing DIVRS’ social media, creating Instagram and Facebook posts (scheduled through Later) to generate community, gardening know-how and volunteer applications. Click right for more examples.

DOCUMENTARY

Another film collab with George Clipp. We WWOOFed with Michael Taylor and family at the tail end of NSW’s devastating drought, marvelling at their intergenerational commitment to planting trees. We made this short documentary to show a Silvopasture approach in action, without hailing it as an agricultural panacea. The message? For all their ‘ecosystem services’, trees on farms are just plain beautiful. Let’s all plant more.

ARTICLES + E-NEWS

Since 2015, I’ve worked with Spinecare Chiropractic in Adelaide to produce a monthly email to their list and corresponding article. As established local chiros with a focus on family and community, their ideal content is conversational, interesting and never ‘salesy’. And after all these years, their email open rate has stayed well above the industry average of 15%.

ARTICLES + EDUCATION

Helping people make better choices about waste starts with fun, accessible and non-dogmatic information. Working with MMMORE Raw Treats to educate their audience about packaging — like the difference between terms such as ‘biodegradable’ and ‘home compostable’ — has proven rewarding and successful, validating a light-hearted approach to serious topics.
